Blake Starman just turned seven and yet he is determined to make a big difference in his community to help other children for generations to come. What a role model!
Since Blake’s mom is very involved in fundraising for a new playground, part of the Sangudo Sports Grounds Enhancement Project, he decided to donate his birthday money to ensure the playground become a reality. Blake presented his generous contribution to Lac Ste. Anne County Councillor, Lloyd Giebelhaus at the April 4th committee meeting of the Sports Grounds Enhancement Project.
Other community members are following Blake’s lead. A Sangudo couple are also finding easy ways to help their community. Normally, they treat each other to supper for their birthday celebrations. This year, that money has been donated toward to the Sports Grounds Enhancement Project. They said their enjoyment of a meal doesn’t last nearly as long as the pleasure they will receive by watching the youth play.
You can follow Blake’s lead by putting your time and money behind projects that you feel are worthy. The Sangudo Sports Grounds Enhancement Project is one of many valuable efforts taking place in our community. The Fallen Four Memorial Run is another. You won’t have to look hard to find ways that you, too, can be a philanthropist!
